General [/u]
The All-Breed Stallion Auction is designed to promote breeding among Sim horses throughout All-Sim and incorporated games. We strive to bring the many facets of bloodlines, types, and friendly members together in one place for superior production availability and just plain fun. The competition open to the resulting foals is considered very elite and prestigious - it is a true All-Sim competition with horses and owners from all corners of sim involved. Only ASBA-produced AND nominated foals will be allowed entry to this show/race card.
Only breedings purchased through the All-Breed Stallion Auction are eligible to compete in any classes or races - offspring produced through breedings of the same stallions outside of the auction are not eligible to compete.
This program is geared towards competing sim horses whose foals will also compete in sim (whether it be game or All-Sim). Stallions best suited to this program are those who are competitive themselves, who have sired horses that have been successful in their promoted discipline, or have predominately like-disciplined bloodlines. The ASBA would prefer to see stallions nominated who have already proven themselves as top competitors within sim, and produced top competitors as well - we are promoting the utmost quality and success within sim lines from each participating stable.
You may age your foal, but please observe a stallion owner's wishes regarding aging in relation to the stallion's age. It is understood that many sim players observe different aging systems.
Colts that go champion or win their race, that are not gelded by their third year in the program, are entitled to a breeding right in the program. They can be nominated for free, regardless if their owner has already filled their nomination quota.
Should the owner of any right(s) quit or disappear from the game, the head of the program may elect to let the right go with the stallion if sold/adopted out by the Committee, or drop the stallion from the program and resell the breeding right.
Owner of right(s) must be in good standing within sim.
All general sim rules apply - no overshowing, abuse, misentering, inappropriate cross-entering, etc. Race horses are only allowed to enter ONE RACE on the card, and are not allowed in any other under-saddle classes (appropriate halter classes are acceptable). Please do not purchase an auction breeding if you do not plan to compete in the ASBA with the resulting foal eventually.
Rights
To keep your stallion and his offspring eligible, you must donate a breeding each year to the auction. Owners are allowed four rights a year, and one right per stallion only. You may not nominate three stallions and use your fourth right for a second stallion nomination.
Stallions will receive automatic entry into the program if they were bid upon the year prior. If they were not, the stallion will be moved to the "Formerly Nominated" board. If you choose to remove your stallion and nominate a different one, you may request the stallion be removed to "Formerly Nominated" by posting in his nomination thread to open up your breeding right on the nominated board. Many members choose to nominated different stallions every year.
We encourage you to nominate only your best stallions and leave shares open to others if possible. The head of the program reserves the right to refuse any nomination or excessive nominations.
The general idea is to promote the highest quality from each stable, limit the amount of breedings from each animal so that the foal would be very desirable because it's nominated for the program, and promote some of the lesser-known but quality stallions for infusion of lines with other stables.
The Auction [/u]
The ASBA will be held early summer each year, with the ASBA show towards the end of summer.
Stallion owners who wish to nominate their stallions to the program will post their nominations in a designated forum (in the ASBA Forum designated for nominations). The auction will occur shortly after the designated nomination period each year.
All bids to start at $500 and increase increments of $100 or more.
Please read the nomination rules and bidding rules located on the nomination stallion thread for more information.
FAQ [/u]
What if I buy a stallion that is nominated to the program already?
He will remain nominated as long as you (like the previous owner) continue to donate breedings. The purchased stallion's right will not count towards your allotted rights so long as he continues to be bid upon each year.
Will more rights become available?
Possibly, depending on how the program proceeds in its first and second years. You may also consider purchasing a right from someone that is already in the program and is not using all of their allotted rights.
Why the limit on breeding nominations?
The limit has been imposed as to whittle down the amount of stallions included in the auction, and to promote only the best stallions of each stable brought forward to the auction. The sheer number of participation among sim members makes a limit a requirement, otherwise there would be pages of stallions to bid upon. As it is, there are FOUR stallions per owner allowed. If there are ten owners donating breedings, that will equal to forty stallions in the auction. You can see how that would add up quickly if more than four are allowed.
Will my foal still be nominated if a stallion is no longer?
Once the foal itself is registered on the proper form, it is registered for life regardless of if the stallion drops out of the program. Basically the stallion nomination and foal nomination are separate entities, but both need to be performed for the resulting foal to be nominated. This will also allow new owners of purchased horses to determine their new horse is in fact a ASBA show eligible horse.
More frequently asked questions to be added as necessary.
As always, you may PM Megan here on the HF forum or email her at hf@twolarrysracing.com if you have any questions or concerns.
A special thank you to Chelsea and the AHA in Horses Forever for the use of a lot of the SEAF program (modified for the ABSA of course).
