There are some horses that we find who are simply meant to be with us. "Stargazing" is one of those phenomenal types of horses. One of our very first racehorses - and she WAS our very first turf horse - Stargazing taught us the anticipation of a race and the thrill of the homestretch. She has brought Thoroughbred Horse Racing to Lamp Light Equestrian permanently and serves as the prime example of the horses we try to breed to run. Regardless how far this mare ran or what the conditions of the track were, she was determined and there was always excitement in her eyes. We are eternally grateful for the secret Santa who brought Stargazing to our home - she is a pillar of inspiration to us. Sired by KC Starstruck, Stargazing seemed to have his athleticism and endurance. KC Starstruck had over 24 wins in his career as a racehorse in All-Sim. He has also sired countless winners on the track, like Stargazing's half-sister A Different Star - a graded stakes winner on dirt and turf - and Starstruck Maiden - another graded stakes winner. Research is still being done on Stargazing's dam .
As a racehorse, Stargazing was prolific, with over twenty five starts. Of those twenty five starts, Stargazing finished in the top three twelve times. Even over long distances, this mare could handle speed and still have plenty of room to open up on the homestretch. Stargazing is really built for racing though - with a lean build and super long legs - so pushing her down the straightaway was really more like letting her open up. 2012 marks a new beginning for Stargazing - she has retired from the racetrack and produced a beautiful filly out of the legendary HOF Topside. Following her race retirement after the 2011 Breeders' Cup - Stargazing started experimenting with different disciplines to move into. She's still all about speed, so we think she'll be best suited for show jumping. She has taken to it with incredible willingness and even Dana, the owner of Lamp Light Equestrian, has shown a particular individual interest in watching this mare progress in training.
As a mother, Stargazing had an uncomplicated breeding and pregnancy and gave us a filly we are really excited about. Seeyouonthestarside LLE - or Starside for short - truly comes from some of the best racehorses available and 2014 will mark her embarkment on racing to follow in her mother's path. Starside has her mother's intensity, beautiful copper coloring, and certainly her athleticism.
